Mille Lacs Lake Fishing Regulations

Daily and Possession Limits are the same unless otherwise noted. No Culling on Mille Lacs Lake.

Walleye

  • 4 fish limit
  • Open season May 14, 2011- February 26, 2012
  • Release immediately all walleye 18" to 28"
  • One fish over 28" may be kept in your 4 fish limit

Northern

  • 3 fish limit, only one over 40"
  • Open season May 14, 2011- February 26, 2012
  • All fish between 27"-40" in length must be immediately released

Muskie

  • 1 fish limit
  • Open season June 4, 2011 - December 1, 2011
  • All fish less than 48" in length must be immediately released

Smallmouth Bass

  • 1 fish limit
  • Open season May 28, 2011 - February 26, 2012
  • Release immediately all fish less than 21" long
  • Catch and release only for Smallmouth Bass from September 12th through the end of the season

Perch

  • 20 fish daily limit. 40 fish possession limit.
  • Continuous open season.

Night Ban

  • Starting 10 p.m. on May 16th; Ending at 12:01 a.m. on June 13th
    No one may fish for any species or possess fishing gear on the lake from 10:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. during the night fishing ban

NOTICE:
Mille Lacs Lake has invasive species. To prevent the spread you must drain water from your boat, livewell, bilge, and impellor by removing drain plugs before leaving the resort. Also, portable bait containers must be drained before leaving. If you want to keep your bait you must replace water with spring water.
Boat plugs must remain pulled while trailering your boat.
